About Ruwanweli Maha Seya
Ruwanweli Maha Seya is a a fascinating hemispherical structure that has enshrined to shelter and venerate a large collection of relics belonging to Lord Buddha.
The construction is one of the oldest historical significances in ancient Sri Lanka and as per the chronological records it has formed in 140 B.C by the ancient king Dutugamunu. The structure is giant in its dimensions approximately about 103 m (338 ft) in height and with a circumference of 290 m (951 ft) which making the dagoba one of the order and tallest structures in the world.

Ruwanweli Maha Seya which is also called as Swarnamali Maha Seya is situated at the ancient historical city, Anuradhapura that is known as the first ever Kingsland in Sri Lanka.
If you are proceeding to Ruwanweli Maha Seya all the way from Colombo or Colombo international airport you have the options to make your trip by getting to a public bus, train or by private transfers and the drive will be about 4 to 5 hours.
