Sri Lanka Tour Packages from Pune – Option 1

Day 1 – Kandy

 

Spend your first day in Sri Lanka at Kandy. This city is located amidst the hills of the central province. Kandy is one of the most popular places in Sri Lanka. Its Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a UNESCO site. This spiritual place is a great one to begin your trip with.

You can start your day with a calming prayer at the temple. And then you can go to Kandy Lake. This is a serene place to sit and reflect on your life. Day 2 & 3 – Nuwara Eliya

 

You will need two days to explore Nuwara Eliya. It is a hill-station often called “Little England”. The colonial architecture here is worth watching. The train ride takes you through the greenery of the hills and a cold breeze.

You can visit Gregory Lake and Hakgala Botanical Gardens. The tea plantations offer a fantastic view. Add to the delightful experience by tasting the Ceylon tea. It is popular world-wide for its aroma and taste.

Other sites to cover at Nuwara Eliya are Victoria Garden, Strawberry Garden, and Seetha Amman Kovil. Nuwara Eliya offers religious and natural sites that you cannot miss. Various waterfalls at Nuwara Eliya are one of the beautiful locations for photoshoots.

Day 4 – Bentota

 

The southwestern coastal town of Bentota is a place of adventure. From river safaris to ayurvedic massages, you can enjoy it all. Bentota markets have the best souveniers to shop at. It has a range of Sri Lankan delicacies and handicrafts.

At Bentota Beach, you can try water rides and traditional Sri Lankan -street food. At Bentota, you will find a turtle conservation project. Make sure you visit there and have a hands-on experience treating turtles and releasing them back to the sea.

Day 5 – Colombo

 

Colombo, the commercial center of Sri Lanka, is the largest city in the country. It also has one of the biggest artificial harbors in the world. Each and every corner of Colombo speaks of the history of Sri Lanka. Gangaramaya Temple is one of the must-visit spots.

The nightlife in Colombo is famous and attracts most visitors. If you want to try gourmet and authentic Sri Lankan food, Colombo is the place. Pettah Market is a good place for shopping-lovers.

Day 1 & 2 – Sigiriya/Dambulla

 

Your first two days should begin at Sigiriya or Dambulla. The UNESCO World Heritage Site- Sigiriya Rock Fortress, offers a stunning view. You need to climb to the top of the citadel to see the view.

Another spot has to be Dambulla Cave Temple. This is also a UNESCO site that has paintings of Buddha. It also has a few statues of the Buddha. These belong to the ancient period and, thus, are unmissable.

Day 3 & 4 – Ella

 

A 2-day trip to Ella is especially for hikers. Hiking to Ella Rock will give you a glimpse of the lush green landscape of the town. Day 5 – Yala

 

Sri Lanka has many sanctuaries and national parks. One of the most popular sanctuaries here is Yala National Park. Here you can take a great wildlife safari and spot leopards and elephants. It has an adjoining border with the Indian Ocean.

You will also find various rare migratory bird species at Yala National Park. You can visit the nearby ancient rock-caves and Buddhist monasteries. It opens everyday at 6:00 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m.

The ticket may cost around 24000 LKR. You can visit here by bus or cab. You can also take a tuktuk ride.

Day 6 & 7 – Galle

 

The last two days should be at Galle. This fortified city is very different. This belongs to the Dutch period and has seen its history. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fort and the church offer a look at Dutch architecture. The maritime museum showcases how navigation worked back then.

There are many museums, like national museum, mansion museum, etc. These museums will take you back in history. You will see ancient artifacts, items of the Dutch royal family, costumes, and much more. If you are a cricket enthusiast, visit the Galle National Cricket Stadium.
